Watkins Glen NY (1 June, 2011)– While the home race at Lime Rock Park didn’t go as planned for Adam Burrows and Trevor Hopwood, the duo at least won’t have to wait long for another shot at glory. The former champions will be back in GRAND-AM race action this weekend with the No. 12 Infinity Audio Kia Koup for Kinetic Motorsports starting with practice and qualifying this Thursday at Watkins Glen International.

Friday’s Continental Tire 150 (SPEED, June 12) will mark round six of the 2011 GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge championship season as the two Kia drivers return to the site of their debut GRAND-AM race win (2008). A brake issue at Lime Rock Park preceded a string of setbacks that culminated in the No. 12 machine not making it to the race finish, dashing hopes of a strong result at the home track for Burrows and Hopwood. But with the Glen so close on the horizon, the duo have already closed the LRP chapter and are looking forward to improving on their race finish from last year (12th) at the classic upstate New York track.

“We’ve had the chance to race a t the Glen in a lot of cars, sometimes racing against each other and sometimes sharing a car,” said Hopwood. “Of course the highlight so far has been that first win, but hopefully we can have a new one this weekend. We had our setback at Lime Rock, but at least Nic and Michael were able to come home with some good points for Kia so we can keep building on that this weekend.”

“I’m excited about the Watkins Glen weekend and getting right back into the car after a less than ideal weekend at Lime Rock,” said Burrows, who also has Rolex Sports Car Series experience at the track in the traditional 6 Hour event. “It might be tough with long straight aways for us, but on the back side of the course we should be pretty strong. We just need to put our heads down and get it right at the Glen. I’ve got a lot of laps there and I’m looking forward to getting even more in this weekend.”
