Multi-Year Agreement Provides Silverado 2500 HD Safety Trucks

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 19, 2015) – Officials from Chevrolet and the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) today announced an agreement naming Chevrolet the “Official Safety Truck of IMSA.”

Chevrolet will provide Silverado 2500 HD trucks to be used at every IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship event on a multi-year basis. IMSA’s Track Services personnel will utilize the trucks to respond to on-track incidents.

“Chevrolet is proud to be named the ‘Official Safety Truck of IMSA’,” said Michael Stouffer, Chevrolet Marketing Manager, SportsCar Racing. “Motorsports provides an opportunity to connect with current and prospective customers and gives us the ability to showcase the Chevrolet Silverado in a highly visible and fan-friendly environment. The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship has established itself as a premier race series and this designation enhances Chevy’s overall partnership with IMSA.”

The Chevrolet Silverado HD delivers a best-in-class towing capacity of 19,600 pounds and payload capacity of 7,374 pounds. The HD features a strong safety cage made with high-strength steel, and is the first and only HD truck on the market to make 4G LTE WiFi powered by OnStar available to customers.

Other features of the Silverado HD include a class-exclusive box with integrated CornerSteps in the rear bumper; stake pockets including a hand grip; available LED under-rail cargo lamps and available spray-in bed liner. Additional options include segment-exclusive accident avoidance safety technologies that includes Forward Collision Alert; Lane Departure Warning and the Safety Alert Seat.

“The Silverado HD’s proven performance is the perfect choice to be the ‘Official Safety Truck of IMSA,’” said David Pettit, IMSA Vice President, Marketing. “These trucks are clearly up to the unique demands that will be placed on them as they respond to incidents at our events. We are pleased to have such a strong partner like Chevrolet continuing to broaden an already robust partnership with IMSA.”

The Chevrolet Silverado HD makes its debut as “Official Safety Truck of IMSA” March 21 at the 63rd Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida.

More Than 140 Entries Across Four IMSA-Sanctioned Series Continue 63-Year Tradition At Sebring International Raceway

More Than 140 Entries Across Four IMSA-Sanctioned Series

Continue 63-Year Tradition At Sebring International Raceway

· 47-Car Entry For Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida

· Continental Tire Challenge, Season Debut for Prototype Lites, Porsche GT3 Cup On Tap

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 13, 2015) – An annual rite of spring for motorsports fans since 1952, Sebring International Raceway again becomes the center of the sports car racing universe next week.

More than 140 cars representing four different International Motor Sports Association (IMSA)-sanctioned series will converge for a week of nonstop racing action that culminates with the 63rd Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida, America’s oldest endurance sports car race.

A massive crowd of sun-splashed fans is expected for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship feature, which takes the green flag on Saturday, March 21, at 10:40 a.m. ET. The tradition began when Alec Ulmann held America’s first 12-hour sports car race on a 5.2-mile circuit utilizing airport runways and access roads in Sebring, Fla.

The Twelve Hours of Sebring was awarded full international recognition the following year, and has become one of the most revered endurance races in the world. Nowadays, the race is one of the crown jewels of the TUDOR Championship schedule and serves as Round 2 of the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup, following the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona.

A 47-car entry featuring the four TUDOR Championship classes will compete ‘round the clock on the 3.74-mile, 17-turn circuit which preserves the flavor of the original configuration. Last year’s race was one of the most competitive in the event’s history, with nine Prototypes finishing on the lead lap as 11 cars exchanged the lead 30 times.

The 14-car Prototype class includes a mix of the Daytona Prototypes, P2 cars and the exotic DeltaWing, including 2014 winner Scott Pruett, who returns with Joey Hand and Rolex 24 winner Scott Dixon in the No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Ford EcoBoost/Riley.

A deep Prototype field also includes defending TUDOR Championship and Patrón Endurance Cup Prototype champions Christian Fittipaldi and Joao Barbosa returning with four-time Champ Car titlist Sebastien Bourdais for Action Express Racing in the No. 5 Mustang Sampling Corvette DP.

The Tequila Patrón ESM team will field a pair of HPD ARX-03b/Hondas for a driver lineup that includes 2014 runner-up Scott Sharp, Ryan Dalziel and David Heinemeier Hanson. Rolex 24 pole winner Ozz Negri leads a lineup for Michael Shank Racing with Curb/Agajanian’s No. 60 Ligier JS P2/Honda, with other entries including a pair of diesel-powered Mazda Prototypes and brothers Ricky and Jordan Taylor in their father’s No. 10 Konica Minolta Corvette DP.

“Sebring has always been one of my favorite tracks,” said Wayne Taylor, owner of Wayne Taylor Racing. “It reminds me of the ‘80s and ‘90s, when I was growing up and watching the great races. Winning there in 1996 was one of my best memories. The crowd at Sebring really gets involved, and seeing their support in the ceremonies was very, very nice. Last year I was inducted into the Sebring Hall of Fame, and I really look forward to this year with my sons and Max (Angelelli) driving.”

Recognized as the most competitive GT class on the planet, GT Le Mans (GTLM) has a nine-car entry for factory-backed Corvettes, Porsches, BMWs, Ferraris and an Aston Martin. Defending class winners Patrick Long and Joerg Bergmeister return in separate Porsches, while the Rolex 24-winning Corvette Racing team looks to add to its Sebring heritage of eight victories since 2002.

The Prototype Challenge (PC) class sees the return of defending champions CORE autosport and drivers Colin Braun, Jon Bennett and James Gue, while Magnus Racing (GT Daytona) also is back with its 2014 winning lineup of John Potter, Andy Lally and Marco Seefried.

The GTD class is the largest class in the field featuring 17 cars from six different manufacturers. In 2014, an impressive six cars finished on the lead lap with the Porsche 911 GT America of Potter, Lally and Seefried beating the Ferrari 458 Italia of Bill Sweedler, Townsend Bell, Jeff Segal and Maurizio Mediani by a mere 1.864 seconds.

The Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge features today’s top domestic and imported automobiles only slightly modified for competition, and returns in 2015 after making its Sebring debut last year. A 44-car entry for Friday’s two-and-a-half hour Visual Studio 150 race includes defending winners for both the Grand Sport (GS) and Street Tuner (ST) classes.

Stevenson Motorsports scored the first victory for the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R at Sebring in 2014, and co-drivers Robin Liddell and Andrew Davis are back in the No. 6 entry. Freedom Autosport claimed last year’s ST victory, with returning winner Andrew Carbonell now joined by twice-wounded U.S. Marine Staff Sgt. Liam Dwyer in the No. 26 Mazda MX-5.

While Sebring represents the second round of the 2015 season for both the TUDOR Championship and Continental Tire Challenge, a pair of IMSA-sanctioned series kicks off their seasons next week.

The Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda will feature a 25-car entry. In recent years, this series has been a launchpad for rising TUDOR Championship stars like Tristan Nunez and Mikhail Goikhberg.

“I always love going to Sebring – we were just there testing and we’re looking forward to go back there to race,” said John Church, co-owner of JDC-Miller MotorSports which fields teams in both the TUDOR Championship Prototype Challenge and Prototype Lites. “It’s always fun to be there, but the competition there gets harder—that makes winning more special. I’ve won a lot of races at Sebring over the years, and winning always makes it more exciting.”

The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama, which is one of the world’s most competitive single-make series, has 28 entries for its season opener next week. Series graduates on the 2015 Twelve Hours of Sebring entry list include Connor De Phillippi, 2013 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA champion Madison Snow and 2014 champion Colin Thompson.

Both series feature a pair of races next week on Thursday and Friday.

Fans can follow the action in the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring flag to flag on FOX Sports 1, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.; FOX Sports 2, 12:30 -7 p.m.; IMSA.com, 7-10 p.m.; and FOX Sports 2, 10-11 p.m. A two-hour special highlights show will be aired on FOX Sports 1 on Sunday, March 22, from 8-10 a.m.

54th Rolex 24 At Daytona: New Cars, New Look, New Weekend In 2016

· FIA GT3 Spec Cars To Make TUDOR Championship Debut In GTD Class

· First Event For Completed DAYTONA Rising Project

· Patrón Endurance Cup Opener Scheduled for Jan. 30-31, 2016

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 5, 2015) – A new era for GT class racing in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship will debut alongside a new state-of-the-art motorsports stadium at Daytona International Speedway, adding to the excitement and fan experience of the 54th Rolex 24 At Daytona scheduled for Jan. 30-31, 2016.

Beginning with the 2016 Rolex 24, the TUDOR Championship GT Le Mans (GTLM) class will compete under the new GTE specifications established by the ACO, while the GT Daytona (GTD) class will welcome full FIA GT3 specifications for all of its cars. The adoption of new GT class specifications is expected to increase all GT cars’ performance and attract more manufacturer and team involvement while maintaining the close competition associated with the TUDOR Championship.

Meanwhile, DAYTONA Rising, which is scheduled to be completed in time for the Rolex 24, is a $400 million redevelopment project of Daytona International Speedway. Five expanded and redesigned entrances, or “injectors,” will lead fans to a series of escalators and elevators, transporting them to three different concourse levels. Each level features spacious social areas, or “neighborhoods,” along the nearly mile-long frontstretch and provides a fantastic view of the track’s infield road course. When completed, Daytona International Speedway will be the world’s first true “stadium” motorsports venue featuring all of the amenities found in modern sports stadiums along with unprecedented connectivity and breathtaking views of the entire facility.

“The debut of new cars in the GTLM and GTD classes, along with the first event in Daytona International Speedway’s motorsports stadium, will add even more anticipation for one of the most prestigious events on the international motorsports calendar,” said IMSA President Scott Atherton. “The Rolex 24 At Daytona is more than a race, it’s an event where fans can enjoy world-class sports car competition and witness the latest and greatest from some of the most prestigious high performance car manufacturers in the world. New GT cars and the addition of a completed DAYTONA Rising project will make next year’s Rolex 24 a must-see spectacle.”

The Rolex 24 also will kick off the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup. The Patrón Endurance Cup is a four-race competition encompassing 52 hours of endurance racing in the TUDOR Championship and includes the Rolex 24, Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida at Sebring International Raceway, Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen International, and closes with the 10-hour Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda at Road Atlanta.

Testing dates for the Rolex 24 also have been finalized. The Roar Before the Rolex 24, a three-day test in preparation for the Rolex 24, will be held Jan. 8-10.

The Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge’s BMW Performance 200 is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 29.

Rum Bum Racing’s Luck Holds Out To Give Plumb Brothers Win In BMW Performance 200 In Porsche 911

Please see attached press release, below is a text-only version.

Rum Bum Racing’s Luck Holds Out To Give Plumb Brothers

Win In BMW Performance 200 In Porsche 911

· Pumpelly Helps Rennsport One, Rodriguez Take ST Victory In Series Debut

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 23, 2015) – One year ago, Matt Plumb was cruising with a comfortable lead in the BMW Performance 200, only to suffer a heartbreaking mechanical problem with four laps remaining.

Plumb found himself in the same position on Friday, but this time there was no letdown as Rum Bum Racing won its third Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race at Daytona International Speedway.

Plumb joined his brother Hugh in the No. 13 Rum Bum Porsche 911 to win this year. He teamed with Gian Luis Bacardi in winning the 2010 season opener in a BMW M3 in the team’s first event, and returned to win in a BMW with Nick Longhi in 2011. Plumb tied Sylvain Tremblay for the all-time lead in series victories with 20.

Yet, with the laps winding down, Matt Plumb experienced a case of déjà vu.

“Last year we had a sensor on the motor go bad, and believe it or not, I thought I felt the same bobble today with 10 laps to go,” Plumb said. “I started to freak out. It’s amazing how things start to feel when you’re going to win.”

This year, it was the competition that experienced problems in the closing laps. With only three caution periods – and the final 43 minutes run under green – several front runners in both classes began to slow and run out of fuel.

Robin Liddell finished second in the No. 6 Stevenson Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R started by Andrew Davis, 6.972 seconds behind. Lawson Aschenbach took third in Stevenson’s No. 9 Camaro co-driven by Matt Bell. Defending Grand Sport (GS) champion Trent Hindman placed fourth in the No. 46 Fall-Line Motorsports BMW M3 started by new co-driver and 2014 BMW Performance 200 winner Ashley Freiberg.

Scott Maxwell started from the pole in the No. 15 Multimatic Ford Mustang Boss 302R, which he turned over to Billy Johnson. When the third caution waved, Johnson was experiencing radio problems and did not pit with the other leaders. Instead, he waited to pit until the final lap before the restart and was mired in the pack for the restart. Johnson took the checkered flag in fifth place.

“That helped us out, because the guys who stopped at the first lap of caution had to save fuel at the end,” said team owner Larry Holt. “Billy just took off and picked them off one by one. He was fifth by the checkered flag. One more lap and he would have been second – but there was no catching Rum Bum today.”

The biggest disappointment went to Mike McGovern, who led the race three times for 14 laps in the No. 2 Jim Click Racing Ford Mustang Boss 302R before running low on fuel.

“Racing with Mr. Plumb was awesome, we had a great battle,” McGovern said. “But 20 minutes before the end she sputtered and I had to pit. We were done at that point. But today just shows what you can do when you get the right race car and the right team, you can make it happen. It’s amazing but disappointing. I’m happy we could show people today we could make it happen. Typically, we have more cautions, but not enough today.”

Pumpelly Helps Rennsport One, Rodriguez Win ST In Series Debut

Rennsport One made a strong statement in its Continental Tire Challenge debut. Luis Rodriguez Jr. – also running in the series for the first time – joined veteran Spencer Pumpelly in taking the Street Tuner (ST) victory in the No. 17 RS1 Porsche Cayman. The team was running 1-2 in the closing laps, with Adam Isman passing Pumpelly for the lead with two laps remaining. However, Isman ran out of fuel in the run to the checkered flag in the No. 18 RS1 Cayman started by Jon Miller.

“What was shaping up to be an incredible finish unfortunately turned out to be a fuel mileage race,” Pumpelly said. “We’ll take the win. This is a great new team. Luis Jr. did a phenomenal job today – this was a pretty high pressure race for him. He’s got a great future ahead of him.”

Defending ST champ and Daytona winner Eric Foss finished second in the No. 56 Murillo Racing/Mosing Motorcars Porsche Cayman started from the pole by Justin Piscitell. David Murry and Ted Giovanis took third in the No 64 Team TGM BMW 328i.

The next stop for the Continental Tire Challenge will be at Sebring International Raceway on Friday, March 20.

Star-Studded Cast Set For 2015 Rolex 24

Traditionally an all-star lineup, the 2015 Rolex 24 At Daytona cast of characters does not disappoint. Reigning TUDOR Championship and Rolex 24 champions Christian Fittipaldi and Joao Barbosa return to defend their title alongside IndyCar star Sebastien Bourdais.

They will take on the likes of Rubens Barrichello (Formula One) and Ryan Hunter-Reay (IndyCar; defending Indy 500 champion) both driving for Peter Baron’s Starworks team; AJ Allmendinger (NASCAR) with Michael Shank Racing; Scott Dixon (IndyCar), Tony Kanaan (IndyCar), Kyle Larson (NASCAR) and Jamie McMurray (NASCAR) all driving for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates in the Prototype class.

The GT Le Mans (GTLM) class features world-class TUDOR Championship lineups from teams like Corvette Racing and defending race champions Porsche North America mixing it up with the likes of Graham Rahal (IndyCar) driving for his father Bobby’s BMW Team RLL team and Niki Lauda’s son, Mathias (WEC), driving for Aston Martin Racing in GTLM. The Scuderia Corsa Ferrari team – led by TUDOR Championship regular and Indy 500 veteran Townsend Bell – returns to defend its GT Daytona class title against a talented field that includes actor Patrick Dempsey running a Porsche.

“With all the drivers from different racing disciplines across the world competing at the Rolex 24, Daytona is the center of the motorsports universe on this weekend,” Oldham added. “So, in addition to covering compelling action that would make any sports car fan salivate, we also have a great opportunity to introduce new viewers to a very cool form of motorsports.”

Decorated sports car driver Scott Pruett looks for his sixth Rolex 24 overall victory, which would break a tie with the legendary Hurley Haywood, making him the leading overall winner of the event. Pruett, who will drive in this year’s race with 2015 season co-driver Joey Hand, Charlie Kimball and Sage Karam, already leads with 10 class victories, dating back to 1985.

In addition to streaming on-board coverage, SPEED: the Motors on FOX Blog covers the event all week with hourly race blog updates, photo galleries, fast-turn video and active social media participation.

TUDOR Night Of Champions Celebrates IMSA Stars in Style

· Awards Gala Takes Place Oct. 13 In New York City

· ‘Five For Fighting’ Singer To Perform

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 8, 2014) – A historic debut season for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship will be celebrated in style next week under the bright lights of New York City.

The TUDOR Night of Champions will crown the champions of IMSA’s premier series, while also reflecting on one of the most significant seasons for sports car racing in North America at Cipriani 42nd Street on Monday, Oct. 13. An awards gala befitting of the prestigious TUDOR Championship, the superstars of the series will be joined by one of the stars of the music industry.

John Ondrasik, better known by his stage name, Five For Fighting, will perform. The piano-based rocker has recorded a number of Top 40 hits, including “Superman (It’s Not Easy),” “100 Years” and “The Riddle.” Two of his albums, American Town and The Battle for Everything, were certified Platinum in the United States with The Battle for Everythingdebuting at No. 20 on the Billboard 200. His most recent album Bookmarks was released in September 2013.

The TUDOR Night of Champions will be hosted by FOX Sports commentators Bob Varsha and Justin Bell and will honor driver, team and manufacturer champions from the four TUDOR Championship classes: Prototype (P), GT Le Mans (GTLM), Prototype Challenge (PC) and GT Daytona (GTD). Champions of the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup – the four-race competition encompassing the Rolex 24 At Daytona, the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida, the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen and Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda – also will be honored.

The winner in each class of the TUDOR Championship will be awarded with a specially engraved TUDOR Grantour Chrono Fly-Back timepiece marking the championship year and class category.

Among the awards to be presented at the TUDOR Night of Champions will be the Continental Tire Driving Confidence Award, given to the team with the most miles completed in the P, GTD and PC classes; the VP Fuels Front Runner Award and the season-long TOTAL Pole Award.

“From the backdrop of New York City and the elegant setting of Cipriani 42nd Street, to the fantastic entertainment provided by John Ondrasik, the TUDOR Night of Champions will truly be a special evening,” said David Pettit, IMSA Vice President, Marketing. “This has been a tremendous season filled with historic moments and it’s only fitting that we close it out in style for our championship-winning competitors as well as our partners.”

The TUDOR Championship season came to a close with Saturday’s Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda at Road Atlanta.

No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP Ices Cake, Clinches $100,000 Tequila Patr ón North American Endurance Cup Prototype Title

Please see attached press release, below is a text-only version.

No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP Ices Cake, Clinches

$100,000 Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup Prototype Title

Patrón Endurance Cup Sweep Within Reach For CORE autosport

BRASELTON, Ga. (Oct. 4, 2014) – Only hours after wrapping up the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Prototype title, Action Express Racing added additional honors by clinching the $100,000 prize for winning class honors in the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup by leading the second segment at Saturday’s Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda at Road Atlanta.

“This is the cherry on top of the cake,” said Joao Barbosa, who joined teammate Christian Fittipaldi in winning the drivers’ championship in both the TUDOR Championship and Patrón Endurance Cup in the No. 5 Action Express Corvette DP. “We’ve had a great season already, and it’s great to cap it up with one more championship.”

Leading the race at the eight-hour mark gave Action Express five points for a total of 39. Wayne Taylor Racing – the winner of the first segment at the four-hour mark – was second to score four points for a total of 34. With Action Express earning even the minimum two points in the final two-hour segment would put the title out of reach.

With the retirement of the Honda- and Mazda-powered Prototypes, Chevrolet clinched the manufacturer championship. Winning its second straight segment win, the Bow Tie Brigade leads Ford, 48-42.

The Patrón Endurance Cup awards five points for first, four for second, three for third and two for all other competitors in key segments of the four endurance races. At Petit Le Mans, points are earned after the four- and eight-hour marks in addition to the finish after 10 hours.

The Patrón Endurance Cup opened with the Rolex 24 At Daytona and continued with the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida and the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen International.

Patrón Endurance Cup Sweep Within Reach For CORE autosport
With the Prototype Challenge (PC) titles out of reach, 8Star Motorsports won the second segment of Saturday’s Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup in the No. 25 Takis/Speedsters ORECA FLM09 to secure second place in the competition.

CORE autosport took the team honors in the class by starting Saturday’s Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda in the No. 54 Flex-Box ORECA FLM09. Colin Braun, Jon Bennett and James Gue went on to each drive the required two-hours, 15 minutes to secure the drivers’ title.

CORE autosport now has 42 points to 35 points for 8Star Motorsports, with the No. 8 Starworks Motorsport Martini ORECA FLM09 third with 26 points. The team can set its sights on the race victory, which would give the team a sweep of all four endurance races, with Bennett, Braun and Gue winning the rounds at Daytona, Sebring and Watkins Glen.
