Lexington, Ohio (6 June 2012) – Though the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series may have taken a month-long break in the schedule, Turner Motorsport driver Michael Marsal hasn’t slowed down- on or off the track – since the previous round at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

Just a week after he and Turner co-driver Boris Said scored their season-best finish of fourth at the New Jersey circuit, Marsal completed his studies at La Salle University and graduated with a degree in Marketing. He also spent time testing at the historic Watkins Glen International road course in the No. 97 Turner Motorsport BMW.

Marsal also rejoined his American Le Mans Series team Dyson Racing to put the Caterham 300R through its paces at New Jersey Motorsports Park’s Lightning Raceway as he spoke about the car and provided rides for the track’s Drivers Club Members.

“It’s been a busy but fun few weeks!” said Marsal. “We had a great test at Watkins Glen. It was really productive and we came out of there with some good ideas not only for when we race there in June, but hopefully some things that will translate well for Mid-Ohio. We had a car that was super consistent throughout the stints, and that is really encouraging here for the second half of the season.”

When Marsal returns to Continental Tire race action this weekend, he is set to keep the momentum building as the series marks the ½-way point of the 10-race championship with Round 5 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Coming off the season-best fourth place run at New Jersey, Marsal has claimed three top-10 results this season and sits eighth in the championship standings. And as the championship kicks up with three events over the next four weekends, strong results are all the more important and Marsal aims to gather as many valuable points as possible in this weekend’s EMCO Gears Classic.

Marsal has faced some tough racing luck at Mid-Ohio over the previous years when unfortunate on-track contact has taken him out of contention for a podium run, but as he returns to one of his favorite tracks on the schedule, he looks to turn that luck around.

“I’m really looking forward to Mid-Ohio,” said Marsal. “It’s probably my favorite track to go racing on. It’s not the greatest track for pure driving, but for some reason it just makes for some great dog fights. People are making passes for positions all throughout the race and it’s really just a track where you’re always working, so it’s a ton of fun.”

The EMCO Gears Classic event begins on Thursday, June 7 with a promoter test day followed by official practice and qualifying on Friday. The 2.5-hour race is set to go green at 11:00 AM (ET) on Saturday.

Live timing and scoring can be followed at SPEED will televise the race on June 17 at 12:00 PM (ET).
