Lexington, Ohio (14 September 2011) – Michael Marsal returns to race action this weekend for the EMCO Gears Classic at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course as both the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series and the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge conclude their 2011 championships at the 2.258-mile road course.

Marsal has a busy weekend ahead of him as he will once again pull double duty by closing out the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge season in the No. 97 Turner Motorsport BMW M3 and also make his fifth Rolex Series GT start as he drives the No. 93 Turner Motorsport BMW entry for the third time this season.

With five top-10 finishes in Continental Tire Challenge competition this year, Marsal is currently ninth in the Driver Points and hopes to follow up a 10th place effort at New Jersey with another strong run in the No. 97 BMW at Mid-Ohio.

Marsal will see a full day of racing on Saturday with the 2.5-hour Continental Tire race set for an 11:00 AM (ET) start followed by the 2.75-hour Rolex Series race at 3:00 PM (ET). Marsal looks to make the most of the final Rolex Series race of the year and will be joined by team owner Will Turner, who will strap into the Rolex car for the first time.

“I’m very excited for the upcoming weekend at Mid-Ohio,” said Marsal. “It will be a busy one between running both series, but I’m very happy that Will (Turner) invited me back to close out the season in GT – and it will be extra exciting to share the driving duties with him for the first time! The Turner Motorsport BMWs have proven to be strong all season and hopefully we can finish off the year with solid finishes in both categories.”

Marsal will participate in a promoter test day on Thursday, September 15 followed by practice and qualifying on Friday. The Continental Tire race begins at 11:00 AM (ET) on Saturday and can be followed with live timing and scoring at www.grand-am.com. The Rolex Series race is slated for a 3:00 PM (ET) start time with SPEED carrying love coverage of the event.
