Burt Frisselle Puts GAMMA88 Car Fourth on Road America Grid

Elkhart Lake, Wis. (24 June 2011) – Burt Frisselle placed the No. 61 GAMMA88 AIM Autosport BMW-Riley on the outside of the second row for the Rolex Sports Car Series 250 Driven by VISIT FLORIDAwith a time of 2:02.338 seconds. The fourth place qualifying effort marks the best start of the season for Frisselle and AIM Autosport co-driver Mark Wilkins.

Round 7 of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series opened with rainy conditions throughout Thursday’s practice sessions, limiting the amount of track time Frisselle had hoped for as GRAND-AM visited Road America for the first time since 2001 and Frisselle made his first laps at the Wisconsin road course in a Daytona Prototype.

The rain moved out of the area in time for Friday’s quick 15-minute qualifying session around the four-mile circuit and Frisselle made the most of his prior experience at the track while racing in the Barber Dodge Pro Series to put the No. 61 up front.

“We’re happy to be in the top-five, especially for GAMMA88,” said Frisselle. “We wouldn’t be here without their participation in the program, so we wanted to give them the best run possible. We still have a little work to do. Our target this weekend has been the No. 01 – they run the same chassis and engine combination as we do, so we have some massaging to do overnight to get where they are. We’ll just work at it and the guys have done a great job. It’s awesome to be back at Road America, so look for us to be strong in the race.”

Frisselle and Wilkins will participate in a final 30-minute practice session Saturday morning before Frisselle takes the green flag for the two-hour event at 11:00 AM local time. The race will broadcast live on SPEED at 12:00 PM (ET).
