2012 CENTENNIAL EDITION CHEVROLET CORVETTE RAISES $175,000 FOR THE AUSTIN HATCHER FOUNDATION

Chattanooga, TN: On Saturday April 9, 2011, Chevrolet celebrated it 100th anniversary by auctioning a brand new 2012 Centennial Edition Corvette at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in West Palm Beach, Florida, with all proceeds benefitting the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer.

The Corvette made its debut on Thursday, April 7 at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach and was featured in the Chevrolet 100th Anniversary display, within the GM booth, from Thursday, April 7 through Saturday, April 9. Among the car’s unique features are its F55 Magnetic Ride Control, Carbon Flash Metallic exterior, and Ebony leather-wrapped interior with red stitching. The vehicle’s Satin Black wheels and front seats carry the Chevrolet 100th Anniversary logo.

The car up for auction, a Z06, carries a vin number ending in 000100, meaning it is the 100th 2012 Centennial Corvette to be produced. The auction took place around 4 p.m. EST on Saturday and within a matter of seconds the bidding price had crossed the $100,000 mark, eventually selling for a total of $175,000. In addition to a history-making car, the winning bidder also received a racing experience package from the American Le Mans Series, whose official charity is the Austin Hatcher Foundation.

The auction aired live on the SPEED Channel, where Dr. Osborn had the opportunity to share the mission of the Austin Hatcher Foundation with a national audience.

The Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer’s mission is to erase the effects of pediatric cancer and optimize each child’s quality of life through essential specialized intervention beginning at the time of diagnosis and continuing throughout survivorship. The Foundation provides services to children with cancer as well as their families through its cancer care center, Hatch’s House of Hope.
