USWAG releases Justin Wilson sock to benefit Dyslexia Institute of Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS, Monday, May 9, 2016 — Verizon IndyCar Series fans can now commemorate Justin Wilson while also raising funds for a cause that was very important to him.

USWAG, a performance athletic sock company that was founded by the late IndyCar driver Wilson and Michael Waddell, has released the custom Justin Wilson-inspired sock design, with a majority of the proceeds going to the Dyslexic Institute of Indiana (dii).

Wilson, who worked hard to support Dyslexia awareness and encourage early diagnosis, was a spokesperson for the Indianapolis-based dii. Wilson and his message that "Dyslexia Doesn’t Stop Me" was carried across a range of media and advertising campaigns featuring the fan-friendly driver.

"Dii was very important to Justin and he wanted to help get the message out there to everyone," said Julia Wilson. "He loved working with the kids, telling them to follow their dreams and to never give up. Making a Justin Wilson sock is a great way to continue his legacy to make people aware Dyslexia is out there. The proceeds go to help the Dii. It’s a pretty cool looking sock and I can’t wait to see people wearing them."

"We’re thrilled Justin’s family, friends and fellow drivers believe in dii and agreed to help us share Justin’s message and celebrate his life," said dii CEO Nichole Freije. "From the helmet colors to the Union Jack flag, the sock is a great reminder of Justin and his work on and off the track. We can’t thank Julia (Wilson), Stefan (Wilson), Scott (Dixon) and Michael (Waddell) enough. They’re writing an empowering story, and that’s exactly what Justin did for individuals with dyslexia."

In addition to the Justin Wilson design, USWAG has teamed to make custom designs for fans of Ryan Hunter Reay, Will Power, Juan Pablo Montoya, Helio Castroneves, Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Ed Carpenter Racing, Graham Rahal, James Hinchcliffe, Conor Daly and Marco Andretti.

With all of the offerings being made in the USA, USWAG has also generated designs that feature the commemorative 100th Running Logo, the fabled "Wings and Wheels" logo, as well as a design that features the Verizon IndyCar Series logo.

"Michael (Waddell) and Justin both had a vision, and they worked hard to start the company," said Julia Wilson. "I am very lucky and honored to try and carry that on for Justin. Emotionally it’s been tough for Michael and I, with USWAG we want to make Justin proud by succeeding. I admire Michael for all his achievements so far."

With several of the designs already available on www.ims.com, museum gift shops, airport gift shop and trackside at all races, all of the products are available for sale in May.
