Columbus, Oh- 14 September 2011-Adam Burrows and Trevor Hopwood have been restless the last few weeks as the championship duo have counted down the days ahead of this weekend’s GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge season finale at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Burrows has kept himself from boarding his flight to Ohio early by cranking out the miles on his road bike to keep fit, as well as making a quick tour of Iceland, making a visit to his old home town to take in the Baltimore Grand Prix , and spending some quality time pulling crab traps in Maryland with his driving mentor, Bob Dotson (www.twitter.com/Wattabout1).

And for his part, Hopwood made the most of the long break by playing cheerleader while his wife Casey delivered a healthy new Patriots fan into the world as Charlotte Elizabeth Hopwood was born on September 2.

The Mid-Ohio weekend is one that many have been anxious to get started, as mere points separate the top contenders in several championship categories, including the sister No. 10 machine for Team and Driver Championships. and not least considerable Kia’s opportunity to show well in the Manufacturer Championship in just its second season of North American racing.

The weekend will also feature the strong in-person support of a rousing Kia contingent as the nascent motorsports program continues to grow in awareness and activation.

The Mid-Ohio locale is one that has featured a little bit of everything for Burrows and Hopwood through the years, from Burrows starting the race on the front row to Hopwood putting on an amazing display of car control to keep from crashing despite losing a wheel on the flat out fastest segment of the track.

“This is a big weekend for everyone involved with this program,” said Hopwood, who made his second-ever GRAND-AM race start at Mid-Ohio in 2006. “There is a lot on the line for Kinetic and Kia with this championship and hopefully it turns out to be a successful race. We also want to move the 12 car as far up in the team standings as well to finish the year on an upswing. This is a fun track but we’ve had some tough luck here through the years so we’ll just look for a good run, start to finish.”

“It seems like it’s been forever since we raced in the huge heat of New Jersey in July,” said Burrows. “Trevor’s gone off and become a father, and the temperature should be much more reasonable this weekend. It’s amazing how close everything is with this championship, but that’s the way it was when we won and it is typical Continental Tire Challenge close competition. I know the Kinetic guys are really looking forward to getting this weekend going and I for one can’t wait to get back to racing, especially at a place like Mid-Ohio. We are looking forward to the weekend and hoping the Nic and Kia can score a very big trophy.”
