Watkins Glen, N.Y. (10 August 2011) –Well that didn’t take too long. Just weeks after making his first ever Rolex Sports Car Series GT Class start with Turner Motorsport, Michael Marsal was invited back to once again steer the No. 93 BMW M3 GT class machine as GRAND-AM returns to Watkins Glen this weekend. Adding to the expectations is the fact that he’ll have a familiar face in pit lane as he is rejoined with co-driver Joey Hand.

The GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Series may be taking a month long break before the season finale in September, but Michael Marsal will be back in race action this weekend as he makes his fourth Rolex Series start of the season, co-driving with Hand in the No. 93 Turner Motorsports BMW for the Watkins Glen 200.

The Watkins Glen event will mark Marsal’s second start in the No. 93 BMW as he was drafted to join Memo Gidley and Peter Bassett at New Jersey Motorsports Park when the trio went on to score a 10th place result under blisteringly hot race conditions.

Although this will be Marsal’s first start on the Watkins Glen 2.45-mile short course, Marsal is no stranger to the historic Watkins Glen circuit having finished second in last year’s Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race on the track’s longer 3.4-mile course. Marsal also made his second-career Rolex Series start on the Watkins Glen long course when he joined Racers Edge Motorsports earlier this year in the No. 30 Mazda RX-8 to finish 12th in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen along with Eric Lux and Ari Straus.

“It’s great to be back with Turner Motorsport and have Joey (Hand) with me in the GT car this weekend,” said Marsal. “The more laps I get in the car, the more comfortable I feel so I’m excited to be back behind the wheel of the No. 93. I had so few laps in the car before jumping in during the race, that I’m really looking forward to getting some more seat time in the GT and getting more comfortable with it. Having Joey available for the weekend makes it all the better and I’m really looking forward to it.”

The GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series will share the track with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series this weekend with Rolex Series practice and qualifying set for Friday, August 12. The two-hour race is set to begin on Saturday at 6:00 PM (ET) with live coverage of the event to be carried on SPEED channel.
