Danville, VA (10 May, 2011)– After posting the duo’s best finish of the 2011 GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge season to date with a run to 10th in the No. 12 Infinity Audio Kia Koup at Barber Motorsports Park, Adam Burrows and Trevor Hopwood are eager to get back to work this weekend for round four and the Bosch Engineering 250 at VIR.

The track, which is generally regarded as one of the most challenging and rewarding on the GRAND-AM schedule, has been the scene for several impressive drives and fond memories for Burrows and Hopwood.

The duo netted a record-setting podium appearance to clinch the 2007 championship at the track, and returned the following year to score second in the season-ending enduro event. Last season, the VIR race saw the duo score their debut top-10 result for Kia with a run to seventh at the 3.27-mile track.

The most recent round of GRAND-AM action, at Barber Motorsports Park, was a positive uptick in racing fortunes for the former champions as the No. 12 Kia entry returned to top-ten form as the Kinetic crew celebrated an outstanding race weekend.

“The Barber weekend was a pretty welcome change of form after having the start to the year that we did, and now we just want to build on that result and pick up some momentum starting this weekend,” said Burrows. “It should be a fun race for the fans to watch–we should be very strong in the twistier parts of the track and under braking, but might not have the pace on the straights that the turbo cars do, so it should be interesting.”

With those Barber memories already some five weeks old, the long break between race weekends was at least punctuated by the chance to get some productive testing in for Kinetic Motorsport, as the team looks to continue to impress with the Kia platform. After three rounds in the opening four months of the year, the VIR weekend will kick off an intensified schedule as the next three rounds are set for the next four weeks.

“VIR is a track that we both really like racing on and we’ve have had some very good runs there through the years,” said Hopwood. “We were happy with the progress that the testing yielded so we are encouraged about not just VIR, but also looking very much forward to Lime Rock Park and Watkins Glen. We know we’ve been driving better than the results have shown and after having to wait so long between races, now we’ve got the chance to get into a good rhythm with the season so this race can’t come soon enough!”

The official running will get underway with practice on Friday , with qualifying slated for Friday afternoon. The 2.5-hour race takes the green flag at 11:15 AM local, with SPEED bringing the broadcast May 22nd at 1:00 PM ET.
